If your GE dishwasher soap dispenser is not opening, you need to reset it. To do that, First, unplug your dishwasher from the power outlet and wait for 5 minutes. After completing 5 minutes, plug your GE dishwasher back in.

If this does not resolve the issue, try the additional fixes detailed below:

Broken Door Spring

GE dishwasher detergent dispenser has a small spring that is used to open the door when it needs to be opened. If the spring is broken, the door won’t open. In that case, you will have to install a new spring.

Clean the Soap Scum

Over time with use, the soap buildup clogs the dispenser, preventing it from opening.

1. Ensure The Dishes Are Loaded Properly

Improper loading is one of the most common reasons a GE dishwasher leaves dishes wet. Overloading racks with too many dishes or using racks incorrectly restricts airflow between items, leaving them wet. Washing too many plastic items in one load can also hamper drying, as plastic retains moisture longer than other materials.
