GE Dishwasher Door Won’t Open
If your GE dishwasher detergent door is stuck shut, there is no need to panic.
In this guide, I’ll share proven solutions that should resolve 70% of GE dishwashers whose soap dispenser does not open.
GE Dishwasher Detergent Door Not Opening
If your GE dishwasher soap dispenser is not opening, you need to reset it. To do that, First, unplug your dishwasher from the power outlet and wait for 5 minutes. After completing 5 minutes, plug your GE dishwasher back in.
If this does not resolve the issue, try the additional fixes detailed below:
Broken Door Spring
GE dishwasher detergent dispenser has a small spring that is used to open the door when it needs to be opened. If the spring is broken, the door won’t open. In that case, you will have to install a new spring.
Clean the Soap Scum
Over time with use, the soap buildup clogs the dispenser, preventing it from opening.
To fix this, make a solution from baking soda and vinegar and pour it into the soap dispenser. Leave it for 15 minutes, and then rinse it thoroughly with water.
Check the Timer
Almost all GE dishwashers have timers, which release the lever that opens the detergent dispenser door at the right time during the wash cycle.
If the timer is faulty or not working, the catch won’t release the door. Therefore, I recommend you call a professional help that will diagnose and fix your dishwasher’s timer.
