Frigidaire Washer Water Leaks
If your Frigidaire washer is leaking, you require a fast and effective solution. Leaks at the front of a top-load washer are usually caused by a clogged or tilted overflow tube.
Clogs can happen from excess suds caused by using too much detergent or combining laundry products inappropriately. Overusing can easily happen in homes that have a water softening system. The washer can leak if it is overloaded or out of balance. Check to be sure the washer is level, reduce load sizes, and keep an eye out for the leak. You may have solved the problem.
If you have a washer that features a spray rinse function, interfering with the cycle by manually advancing the timer can cause the washer to leak. The manual advance can often cause the spray rinse cycle to go on too long and overflow.
Possibly, there’s a hole in the out-flow pipe so that the water leaks out. Even if the hole is the size of a large needle hole, your washing machine will unstoppably lose its efficiency. For a short-term solution, you can try self-amalgamating tape; it is specifically made to be water-resistant and forms a good seal. But with the leak, it is only recommended as a stopgap until you can notify the landlord or hire a plumber.
We recommend replacing the pipe with rigid PVC when you can. Silicon sealant (“caulk”) with any tape over it is good – see if your friends have an open tube. Move the ribbed pipe as little as possible since it looks hard to replace. If it was long and stable, you might just chop it at the hole and re-attach it to the machine’s hose.
